Nankang NS-2R
The NS-2R has earned its reputation as a highly recommended track day tyre after years of success in club motorsport across the UK and Europe. It has been widely used in various championships, including the BMW Compact Cup, MaX5, Civic Cup, M3 Cup, and open tyre series.
While the NS-2R may not be the fastest tyre on the grid, it stands out for its consistent performance, making it a true endurance option for motorsport enthusiasts. This tyre is designed to perform excellently in both dry and wet conditions, offering drivers the confidence of a reliable track-day experience as well as performance comparable to a road tyre.
The NS-2R has earned EU tyre labelling and MSA List 1B approval, making it suitable for various motorsport events. However, the "MOTORSPORT USE ONLY" version of the NS-2R, which features a softer compound (120/100/80TW), is intended strictly for race, track, competition, or closed-road events and is not EU labelled.
The NS-2R offers optimal camber settings between -1.0 to -3.0 degrees and has specific pressure settings to ensure peak performance:
HOT Pressure Settings:
- <800kg: 23 - 27.5 psi
- 800-1000kg: 24 - 32 psi
- 1,000-1,400kg: 27.5 - 37 psi
-
1,400kg: 34 - 42 psi
COLD Pressure Settings:
- Follow the same range as the hot pressures but use the highest figures based on the weight of your vehicle. For example, for a car under 800kg, use 27.5 psi as your cold pressure and adjust after warming up.
Road Pressure Settings:
- Follow the car manufacturer's guidelines.
To fine-tune your handling, refer to the adjustments below:
- To reduce oversteer: Reduce rear pressures or increase front pressures.
- To increase oversteer: Increase rear pressures or reduce front pressures.
- To reduce understeer: Reduce front pressures or increase rear pressures.
- To increase understeer: Increase front pressures or reduce rear pressures.
When fitting the tyre, the yellow dot represents the lightest part of the tyre and should be aligned with the valve stem on both aluminium and steel wheels to ensure proper balancing.
